Free induction signal from biexcitons and bound excitons

چکیده

A theory of the free induction signal from biexcitons and bound excitons is presented. The simultaneous existence of the exciton continuum and a bound state is shown to result in a new type of time dependence of the free induction. The optically detected signal increases in time and oscillates with increasing amplitude until damped by radiative or dephasing processes. Radiative decay is anomalously fast and can result in strong picosecond pulses. The expanding area of a coherent exciton polarization (inflating antenna), produced by the exciting pulse, is the underlying physical mechanism. The developed formalism can be applied to different biexciton transients. 71.35.Cc, 42.50.Md, 78.47.+p Typeset using REVTEX

Excitability of excitons and biexcitons in a ring cavity.

We discuss the excitable behavior of excitons and biexcitons in a nonlinear optical ring cavity. The nonlinearity is due to the process of the creation of biexcitons by photon-assisted conversion of excitons. In the bifurcation analysis a region where a saddle point is close to an equilibrium has been found. In this region the system shows excitability. It is shown that the mechanism of the exc...

Diffusion quantum Monte Carlo study of excitonic complexes in two-dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides

Excitonic effects play a particularly important role in the optoelectronic behavior of twodimensional semiconductors. To facilitate the interpretation of experimental photoabsorption and photoluminescence spectra we provide (i) statistically exact diffusion quantum Monte Carlo bindingenergy data for a Mott-Wannier model of (donor/acceptor-bound) excitons, trions, and biexcitons in two-dimension...

Exciton-exciton interaction and biexciton formation in bilayer systems

We report quantum Monte Carlo calculations of biexciton binding energies in ideal two-dimensional bilayer systems with isotropic electron and hole masses. We have also calculated exciton-exciton interaction potentials and pair-distribution functions for electrons and holes in bound biexcitons. Comparing our data with results obtained in a recent study using a model exciton-exciton potential Sch...

Neutral and charged inter-valley biexcitons in monolayer MoSe2

In atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), reduced dielectric screening of the Coulomb interaction leads to strongly correlated many-body states, including excitons and trions, that dominate the optical properties. Higher-order states, such as bound biexcitons, are possible but are difficult to identify unambiguously using linear optical spectroscopy methods. Here, we implement...

Quantum chemical investigation of biexcitons in conjugated polymers

The formation of biexcitons in conjugated polymers is examined within the Pariser-Parr-Pople (PPP) model of polyacetylene. The calculations are done using a scattering formalism that provides a size-consistent description of excited states containing both single and double electron-hole pair excitations. The excited-state absorption spectrum from the 1Bu exciton state was calculated and examine...
